Safe & Sound: From Architectural Ideas into Art Form

Photos by Pieter Melotte

Bringing architectural ideas into the objects we live with.

Created by Slow Construct with Leroy Street Studio at Allen Street Gallery during NYCxDesign 2026, Safe & Sound brought together 24 architect-makers exploring how objects create a sense of comfort, protection, and belonging at home.

PROJECT

A Slow Construct exhibition with Leroy Street Studio at Allen Street Gallery for NYCxDesign. Brand identity by Company Policy.

OUR ROLE

Concept Development · Curation · Maker Coordination · Exhibition Programming · Communications · Social Media · eCommerce

AN INVITATION TO RESPOND

We invited architects working across furniture, lighting, and art to consider what makes a home feel safe. Following 70+ submissions to our open call, we curated works that brought their responses into conversation, exploring how materials, familiar rituals, and personal histories shape the objects around us. We engaged Company Policy to design the brand identity for the exhibition, from social content to the printed brochure.

FROM EXHIBITION TO COMMUNITY

The opening brought visitors and participating makers together around the work. Online profiles and selected shop listings extended the exhibition, giving audiences further opportunities to discover the designers and collect their pieces.

RESULTS

Safe & Sound established Slow Construct’s first New York exhibition and gave its community a physical gathering place. The project connected curation, public programming, and commerce through a shared architectural perspective.
