How does your work evoke a sense of safety, comfort, belonging, or protection within the home?
“A four-part modular shelving system from my Doodle Baggage collection. The lightweight modules can function together as a compact shelving unit, be used separately for storage, or transform into a small side table. The design is intended for small living spaces where flexibility, easy storage and efficient use of space are essential.
The concept of the Baggage collection originates from the idea of luggage. I was inspired by how suitcases are designed to fit inside one another, making them easy to store and organize. This principle of nested storage became the starting point for the collection: objects that can be stacked, stored within each other and put away effortlessly when not in use.
The design process involved sketching, model-making and hands-on prototyping, with a focus on proportion, balance and ease of use. The modular structure supports adaptability and gives the user the ability to reorganize their space according to changing needs.
The pieces are made from wood and finished by hand, emphasizing durability, tactility and warmth. Color and surface treatment are used to create a friendly and approachable presence in the home.
The Doodle pattern reflects playfulness, individuality and artistic expression. Its free, intuitive lines convey personality and a sense of creative freedom, allowing the object to feel both functional and emotionally expressive. Through this work, I explore how adaptable furniture can support a sense of comfort, control and stability in everyday living.”
