Atelier Hen
Atelier Hen explores the hand-tufting technique of needle punching to create topographic landscapes on miniature rugs, wall tapestries as well as small pouches. By restricting the colour palette to minimal, nude and earthy tones, the materiality, structure and detail of the 100% wool yarn become the focal points of each creation. In a conscious move away from control and rigidity, Atelier Hen merges tactility and the art of rug-making with natural landscapes and organic shapes.

Hand-tufted rug using beige and ash-coloured 100% wool yarn, hand-stitched with cotton backing fabric. Tarn is number one of three pieces in Atelier Hen’s Landscapes collection and features a raised mountainous edge on one side, a valley and field distinguished by a perimeter line and a round cavity representing excavation by a glacier.
